A Direct Line - A Blog addressing issues and topics of interest for Montana credit union board members
Home > Credit Union Directors > Associated Employers

Starting with our "Welcome aBoard" post, our weekly blog addresses issues and topics of interest for Montana credit union board members.

Associated Employers

Employment resource

As a board member, you are an employer, at least of your credit union manager/CEO. The credit union senior management handles the employment of the credit union staff. But, do you ever feel like you need a resource for information on what you can ask in an interview, how a performance appraisal should be done, or what your rights and risks are in a volatile termination process? There is a fantastic resource available in Associated Employers (AE) in Billings. They provide human resource support across Montana, including training, an employee handbook service, and -- most importantly -- a hotline to answer your HR questions.

With the upcoming December 1 effective date of the U.S. Department of Labor overtime rule, many of you might also be looking for guidance on whether your manager should be exempt or non-exempt and how to handle hours they work beyond a 40 hour week. AE can help you with that too! Check today to see if your credit union is already a member (a lot are!) and take advantage of this valuable resource.

Below, you'll find links to past blog posts organized (loosely) into four categories. They are fairly short and provide food for thought in the areas of directors' duties and responsibilities, advocacy, working with the CEO, and ideas for strategic planning.
